Bruichladdich Bere Barley 2013 is a single vintage Islay malt, distilled in 2013 and matured for a decade. 80% of the whisky rested in first-fill bourbon barrels and 20% in second-fill Pauillac wine casks, bringing vanilla and oak from the first and fruit from the second.
The nose offers warm citrus, tropical fruit, malty flour, peach skin and candied orange, with rose and sweet violet appearing later. On the palate there are popcorn, brown sugar and porridge alongside apricot, peach and melon. The finish is soft, with milk chocolate, crème brûlée, mango and orange blossom honey.
