Bruichladdich – Black Art 10.1 29 Years (70cl, 45.1%)

Black Art 10.1 is a 29-year-old unpeated single malt from Bruichladdich on Islay, bottled at 45.1% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It is the tenth edition of Black Art, created by head distiller Adam Hannett. The casks all date from before the distillery reopened, so the whisky matured for almost three decades on Islay before Hannett vatted them. The barley and cask types are kept secret. The nose is warm, with toasted oak, chocolate, cedar and leather, then apricot jam, melon and cherries. The palate brings ginger biscuits, lemon tart, marzipan and raisins on a soft, velvety texture. The finish is soft, with fudge, ripe fruit and a touch of tobacco.
