Bruichladdich – Islay Barley 2014 (50%)

Bruichladdich Islay Barley 2014 is an unpeated single malt made from barley grown on Islay. This 2014 vintage uses Concerto and Propino barley from eight farms, all within 11 miles of the distillery. It matured for over eight years, mostly in first-fill bourbon casks (80%), with second-fill wine casks (15%) and second-fill sherry butts (5%). It was bottled at 50% ABV. The tasting notes describe a cereal-led spirit with apricot and peach, malty digestive biscuit and a hint of fresh grass, with a faint maritime note lingering behind.
