Octomore 14.2 is a heavily peated Islay single malt from Bruichladdich, in a 70cl bottle at 57.7% ABV. Head Distiller Adam Hannett chose first fill Oloroso hogsheads and first and second fill Amarone casks for it. The spirit was distilled in 2017 from barley harvested in 2016, matured for five years and bottled in 2023, with a final marrying in French oak. It is peated to 128.9 ppm.
The nose brings leather, plums, redcurrants and barley, then toasted oak, cinnamon, green apple, black pepper and dry peat smoke. On the palate come wood spice, smoked oak and roasted coffee with rich fruit cake, apple and pear. The finish carries smoked malt, smouldering oak and sea salt.
