Octomore 17.3 is a heavily peated Islay single malt from Bruichladdich, made from 100% Scottish Mainland Concerto barley grown in Irene's field. The barley was malted to 132.1 PPM, and the whisky was aged for 5 years.
It spent that time in first-fill bourbon barrels and second-fill casks that held Ribera del Duero, Sauternes, Eiswein and Syrah wines. It was bottled at natural cask strength, with natural colour and no chill filtration.
Salted caramel, smoked apple and toasted coconut lead the nose, with praline and vanilla cream alongside. The palate brings earthy, charred peat and dry, ashy smoke, cut through by citrus oils and salinity.
