Octomore 6.1 is an extremely peated single malt from Bruichladdich on Islay, with a peat level of 167ppm. The aim behind Octomore was to put a strongly peaty character at the front. The nose is dense smoke, like the column rising from a smouldering peat fire, with faint citrus, malt and oak behind it. Smoke leads on the palate too, with lemon peel, thyme, oily nutmeg and malt coming through. The herbal finish is very smoky.
