Bruichladdich Octomore 7.1 is an Islay single malt from the Bruichladdich distillery, founded in 1881. It is made from Scottish barley and peat, matured in casks that previously held American whiskies, and bottled at 59.4% ABV. The release is limited to 30,000 bottles a year worldwide. The nose brings vanilla, peat and citrus, with a light touch of salt and caramel, then peach and pear. The palate is soft and sweet. The finish stays peaty and smoky with the fruit still present, ending in a salty-sweet oak note.
