Bruichladdich – Octomore Futures 5 Years 2009 (70cl, 50%)

Octomore Futures is a heavily peated Islay single malt from Bruichladdich, here at five years old. It was distilled on 23 February 2009 and bottled in August 2014, with a peating level of 258 ppm. It was matured in bourbon casks and bottled at 50% in a 70cl bottle, in a run of 9,600 bottles. The nose has rubber, vanilla, a hint of fresh white grapes, sea air and fragrant smoke. On the palate come Swedish pepparkakor biscuits, apple and thick waves of earthy peat. The finish is a lingering one of tropical fruit, with smoky peat that carries on.
