This is a 10 year old peated Islay single malt from Bruichladdich's Port Charlotte range, bottled at 50% in a 70cl bottle. It is made from Scottish barley and matured in a mix of casks: 65% first-fill American whiskey casks, 10% second-fill American whiskey casks and 25% second-fill French wine casks.
The nose balances smoke with marine, ozone notes, alongside oak, golden caramel, vanilla, ginger, nutmeg and clove. The palate is soft, with smoke lifting the sweetness of the oak, plus coconut, vanilla custard, lemon honey, smoked oysters and salty sand.
The finish is smoky, with sweet fudge, oak, ripe apple and apricot.
