Port Charlotte Islay Barley 2014 is a heavily peated Islay single malt from Bruichladdich, with a peat level of 40 PPM. It is made from Concerto and Propino barley grown on Islay, sourced from eight farms within 15 miles of the distillery. It is bottled at 50% ABV in a 70cl bottle, non-chill filtered and naturally coloured. The whisky matured for seven years in 84% first-fill bourbon casks, 8% second-fill virgin oak and 8% second-fill Bordeaux wine casks. The nose has malty digestive biscuits, peat embers, vanilla and honey, with grapefruit, melon, peach and red apple. On the palate, citrus and stone fruit meet gentle peat smoke, toasted oak and coconut. The finish is long, with toasted oak, ripe fruit and a little barbecue smoke.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
