This is Port Charlotte SC 01, a 2012 vintage Islay single malt from Bruichladdich, bottled at 55.2% in a 70cl bottle. It is part of the Cask Exploration series and the first in it made with 100% Islay barley, from the 2011 harvest grown by seven farming partners within ten miles of the distillery. The spirit matured in sherry casks and first and second fill American whiskey casks, and was later moved at different stages into Sauternes casks of French oak. The nose shows peaches in syrup, dried apricot, melon and ripe pineapple, with honeysuckle, heather, peat smoke and toasted oak. The palate balances light peat and ripe fruit with leather, shoe polish, vanilla and chocolate. The finish is mineral and earthy, with a hint of citrus.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
