Bruichladdich – Rare Cask 1988 30 Year Old

This is a 30 year old Bruichladdich single malt distilled in 1988, a limited edition from the distillery's Rare Cask series and known as The Untouchable. It matured for three decades in a combination of bourbon casks and refilled squat hogsheads. The nose opens with dried hay, buttercups, primroses and coconut oil, followed by vanilla fudge, porridge with golden syrup, sweet citrus, sherbet, apricot and caramel. On the palate come coconut, pink grapefruit, granola, malt and toast. Oak spice, pipe tobacco and fudge slowly develop, with ripe pineapple, mango and mint building towards the finish.
