This is a Bruichladdich single malt from the Valinch series, named Jane Carswell, in a 50cl bottle at 57.7% ABV.
The influence of Italian red wine is strong, and the Amarone character shows throughout. The nose brings ripe red fruit, strawberry jam or sour cherry, clean malt, vanilla and toasted nuts such as almonds.
The palate is oily and dense, with dark chocolate, nuts, raisins and cinnamon, balanced by brown sugar, caramel and a light coastal saltiness. The finish is medium to long and warm, with chocolate, wine tannins, nuts and a touch of white pepper.
