This is an 18 year old Bunnahabhain single malt from Islay, distilled in 2001 and bottled in 2019 by Wilson & Morgan. It was matured in sherry wood and is bottled at 59.7% in a 70cl bottle.
It departs from the usual softness of Bunnahabhain, with a muscular, punchy character. The nose is gentler, with beeswax, honey, chamomile and a hint of organic character.
The palate is farmy, with leather and damp earth, floral and waxy notes, flour, a hint of liquorice and some peat. It is big, chewy and powerful, then turns drier and only moderately winey, ending in a blast of pepper.
