Bunnahabhain – 2014 Wilson & Morgan 6 Years Old Heavy Peat (70cl, 46%)

A six-year-old Islay single malt from Bunnahabhain, distilled in 2014 and bottled in 2020 by Wilson & Morgan at 46% in a 70cl bottle. The distillery is best known for unpeated whisky, but this one comes from a heavily peated batch. The peat is obvious from the first sniff, with smoke and ash alongside maritime and medicinal notes. Underneath sits the clean, malty character expected of the distillery, with vegetal and herbal touches. Black liquorice and gentian root come through on the palate, and the warm, peppery finish keeps the smoke going for minutes.
