Bunnahabhain – 2018 Gordon & MacPhail (70cl, 60.7%)

A 2018 Bunnahabhain single malt from Islay, bottled by Gordon & MacPhail at 60.7% ABV in a 70cl bottle. Bunnahabhain sits at the north-eastern tip of Islay, facing the island of Jura across the Sound of Islay. Building the distillery in 1881 meant first laying a long, curving road down to the sea, such was the isolation of the spot. The water for making the whisky rises from an underground spring, the Margadale river, and holds comparatively little peat for Islay. Until 2003 the distillery stayed with the founders' descendants, Highland Distillers, and it is now owned by Burn Stewart Distillers.
