Bunnahabhain An Cuan Garbh No. 1 is an Islay single malt bottled at 51.6% in a 70cl bottle.
The distillery stands on the Sound of Islay at the north-eastern corner of the island, facing Jura. The site was so remote that a long, winding road down to the sea had to be built before the distillery went up in 1881.
Its water, relatively low in peat for Islay, comes from an underground spring, the Margadale river. The founders' descendants, Highland Distillers, owned it until 2003, and Burn Stewart Distillers is the current owner.
