Bunnahabhain – 25 Year Old 1990 Douglas Laing Xtra Old Particular (70cl, 44.2%)

This is a single cask Islay single malt Scotch whisky from Bunnahabhain, bottled by Douglas Laing in its Xtra Old Particular range. It was distilled in November 1990 and aged in a refill hogshead. In November 2015 the cask yielded 269 bottles at 44.2%, including this 70cl bottle. The whisky is spicy and smoky, with milk chocolate and mocha. The nose has ripe autumn fruits and an earthy backdrop. On the palate the peat shows early, then softens to barley, brown sugar, spice and smoke. The finish is lightly oaked and warmly spiced, with milk chocolate and mocha.
