Bunnahabhain – Stiùireadair (70cl, 46.3%)

Bunnahabhain Stiùireadair is an Islay single malt without an age statement, matured in first fill and second fill sherry casks. The name is Gaelic for helmsman and nods to the steersmen who once linked Islay with the mainland. It is described as a powerful malt with sherry notes, together with vanilla, caramel and dried fruit. The nose is creamy caramel and dried fruit with vanilla, nuts, a touch of brine and spice. The palate has a creamy texture with sea salt, dried fruit and caramel, gently spiced with a hint of nuttiness. The finish carries echoes of dried fruit.
