This is an 18 year old Islay single malt from Bunnahabhain, selected by Wilson & Morgan for its Barrel Selection and matured in sherry wood. It is bottled at 59.7%.
It departs from the usual softer Bunnahabhain style, being muscular, punchy and farmy, with leather and damp earth on the palate and more than a touch of peat. The nose is gentler, with beeswax, honey and chamomile.
The palate is big and chewy, with floral, waxy and liquorice notes, before it turns drier and ends with a blast of pepper.
