Bushmills Black Bush is a blended Irish whiskey from the Old Bushmills Distillery in County Antrim, in a 70cl bottle at 40% ABV. More than 80% of the blend is single malt, matured for up to seven years in Oloroso sherry casks and ex-bourbon barrels. The lighter grain whiskey balances the sherried malt.
It is triple distilled in copper pot stills from Irish barley, all of it non-peated.
The nose shows raisins, figs and toasted nuts over sweet malted barley. The palate moves from dried fruit cake to warming spice, nutty toffee and dark chocolate. The finish is medium to long, warm and gently dry, with a last trace of Oloroso sweetness.
