This is a single cask Caol Ila from Islay, distilled in October 2012 and bottled in January 2023 at 10 years old. Douglas Laing released it in its Old Particular range, in a 70cl bottle at 48.4% ABV.
It was matured in a refill hogshead, which gave 359 bottles. The whisky is non-chill-filtered and has no added colouring.
The nose is mature Islay, with seaweed and a harbour-side, beach feel. The palate opens oily and sweet, then moves to summer tar, chimney soot and creosote. The finish is warming, with Fisherman's Friends lozenges, plenty of peat smoke and ash.
