Caol Ila – 11 Years Old Private Reserve (58.1%)

This is an 11 year old Islay single malt from the Caol Ila Distillery, distilled on 22 August 2013 and selected by Cane and Grain for their Private Reserve collection. It is bottled at a natural cask strength of 58.1%, with natural colour and no chill filtration, in a run of 266 bottles. In May 2022 the whisky was re-racked into a single barrique that had previously held wine from Château Latour, and it matured there for a further three years. Cane and Grain sum it up as peat meets sweet, or golden, sweet, sticky barbecue, with the Latour cask adding sweetness and texture to balance the peat.
