This is a Caol Ila single malt from Islay, bottled by Gordon & MacPhail in its Connoisseurs Choice range. It was distilled in 2003 and bottled in 2015 at 12 years old and 46% ABV.
The whisky matured in first-fill bourbon barrels and has a pale gold colour.
The nose is leafy and coastal with smoke, fresh butter, almonds and seaweed, followed by lemon and grapefruit. On the palate it is fresh and fruity with gentle smoke, cider apples and pears. The finish is medium, sweet and fruity, with light smoke and a note of bonbons.
