A 15 year old unpeated Islay single malt from Caol Ila, bottled in 2016 at a cask strength of 61.5%. It was matured in a mix of American and European oak casks. Caol Ila was founded in 1846.
A few drops of water open it up. The nose has cream caramels with a little fruit, pine needles and light smoke, with lemon and lime. The palate is concentrated, with spiced caramel, white pepper and rhubarb, and water brings out chocolate and more caramel. The finish is pleasantly long.
