A 15 year old unpeated Islay single malt from Caol Ila, bottled at a cask strength of 59.1%. It is the first of thirteen releases in a limited series.
The whisky was distilled in 2002 and bottled in 2018. It was matured in refill and new American oak hogsheads together with ex-bodega butts of European oak.
The nose is mild for the strength, with green apple, orange peel, pear, shortbread-like grain, vanilla and a touch of sea salt. The palate is thick and firm, oily yet dry, with honey, pine resin, salt, lemon and fresh peach. The finish is long and warming, with spice, aniseed, liquorice, honey and lemon peel.
