This Caol Ila is a 32 year old single malt distilled in 1988 and bottled by Gordon & Macphail in its Connoisseurs Choice range. It was matured in a refill American hogshead and bottled in 2021 at a cask strength of 52.7%, non-chill-filtered, in a 70cl bottle. Only 222 bottles were released.
The nose has red apple and vanilla pod, with dried banana, pineapple, coconut and a hint of bonfire embers. The palate shows poached pear and honey, then cured meat, demerara sugar, pineapple and coconut. The medium finish has subtle spice and lingering sweet smoke.
