Caol Ila 2011 14 Year Old Moscatel Finish - Berry Bros. & Rudd (52.4%)

This is a single cask Islay single malt from Caol Ila, distilled in 2011 and bottled at 14 years old at 52.4% ABV. It is part of Berry Bros. & Rudd's Odyssey Range: The Auld & The Bold, and only 240 bottles were filled. The whisky was finished in a Moscatel wine cask, which sets sweet wine-cask character alongside Caol Ila's coastal peat smoke. The nose offers sticky cola sweets, red fruit preserves and caramelised sugar. On the palate, sweet, jammy fruit sits over Islay peat smoke, and the long finish carries coastal smokiness and sweet caramel.
