Caol Ila – 2012 13 Year Old Little Brown Dog (55.7%)

A single refill butt Caol Ila from Islay, distilled on 10 April 2012 and bottled on 12 February 2026 at 13 years old and 55.7% ABV. Little Brown Dog bottled it a few months before its fourteenth birthday, preferring a fresher Caol Ila to keep the bright peat profile. The label is a hand-coloured engraving of seaweed, a crab and a small shrimp by J. F. Schreiber, dated 1876, continuing the maritime theme of the bottler's earlier Caol Ila. The colour is pale gold. The nose has candle wax, malt barn and a driftwood bonfire, and the palate brings toasted almonds and sea urchin with dirty maritime notes. The finish is of gorse and light, salty peat.
