Caol Ila – 28 Year Old 1983 Berry's Own Selection Cask 4823 (70cl, 55.9%)

This is a Caol Ila single malt from Islay, distilled in 1983 and bottled in 2011 after 28 years. It comes from cask 4823, selected by Berry's Own Selection, and is bottled at 55.9% in a 70cl bottle. The nose brings coffee beans and smoky malt, with hints of sea spray and sticking plasters, freshly baked sourdough and spice. On the palate it is peaty and oily, with linseed oil, sweet malt, molasses, burnt rubber, tobacco and coffee. The finish carries almonds and spice, salt and smoke.
