This is an eight year old Islay single malt from Caol Ila, distilled in 2014 and bottled at 48% ABV. It is a small batch made from six American standard barrels.
It comes from the Reserve Casks collection within The Single Malts of Scotland range, released by the independent bottler Elixir Distillers. The whisky is fresh and smoky, reminiscent of bonfires at the seaside.
The nose combines sweet smoke and sea air with lemon drizzle cake and vanilla sugar. The palate is full of citrus, with cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, glace ginger and salty liquorice. The finish turns sweet, with ripe pear and flaked sea salt.
