This is the Distillers Edition from Caol Ila, an Islay single malt bottled at 43% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It has been double matured, with a finish in Moscatel wine casks that adds a fruitier, softer side to the distillery's peat smoke and sea air.
The nose brings fresh peat smoke and sea air with orange marmalade, honey and ripe fruit, and floral touches behind. The palate is soft and oily, with malt, citrus, sweet wine, ripe peach and orange. The finish is long, with lingering peat smoke, gentle fruit sweetness and a slightly salty, spicy close.
