Caymus Special Selection Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2013 (75cl, 15.8%)

Special Selection is a Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon from Caymus Vineyards in Rutherford. It is a separate wine from the regular Caymus bottling, made only in vintages the family judges worthy, from the best barrels set aside each year. This is the 2013, at 15.8% abv. It pours a dense ruby. The nose leads with blackberry and cassis, layered with black licorice, anise, cocoa, vanilla and a little cedar. The palate is opulent and velvety, with wild berry, plum and ripe black fruit moving into mocha, brown spice and cigar box. Fine-grained tannins and firm acidity keep it balanced. The finish is long and layered, with generous fruit over integrated oak.
