Château Palmer 2016 is a red Margaux from a Troisième Grand Cru Classé of the 1855 classification. The estate is jointly owned by the Sichel and Mähler-Besse families, and its 55 hectares are planted to 47% Cabernet Sauvignon, 47% Merlot and 6% Petit Verdot. The vineyards have been farmed biodynamically since 2014, and the wines age for 20 to 22 months in oak, half of it new.
2016 followed a mild winter and a rainy spring, with flowering in the week of June 6 and a harvest that began on October 3, one of the latest in the estate's history. Yields were modest, the grapes aromatic, and the tannins powerful and ripe, giving a structure the estate describes as balanced with silk.
