Château Pontet-Canet 2019 Pauillac (37.5cl)

This is the 2019 Grand Cru from Château Pontet-Canet in Pauillac, in a 37.5cl bottle. The estate sits just south of Château Mouton Rothschild and Château Armailhac, on poor gravel over clay and limestone. The 81 hectares have been farmed biodynamically throughout since 2005, with no chemical weed killers and only organic fertilisers. Part of the vineyard is worked with horses. Fermentation takes place by gravity flow in concrete truncated cone-shaped vats. The 2019 season began with a mild winter and a short cold snap in May, followed by a summer of steady ripening. Merlot was picked first from 23 September, then Cabernet Franc, then Cabernet Sauvignon, and the harvest ended with Petit Verdot.
