This is a 19 year old Jamaican rum from the Clarendon distillery, distilled in 2004 and bottled in 2024. It is a single cask, cask 5, bottled at cask strength of 59.8% in a 20cl bottle, with 779 bottles made. It shows the medium-ester, open-fermentation style of Jamaican rum. The nose combines candied fruit and Jamaican funk with a slight chemical edge, then honeyed sweetness, a touch of acetone and fresh pastry. The palate suggests fruit pastry with vanilla custard, papaya jam and green tea, with rubbery, wood polish and tar notes. The funk lingers into a finish of dried fruit.
