Clonakilty Double Oak Finish is an Irish whiskey blend of 8-year-old grain whiskey and 10-year-old triple-distilled malt, made at Clonakilty Distillery in Co. Cork. It is bottled at 43.6% ABV and is non-chill filtered.
After ex-bourbon maturation it takes two finishes: virgin American oak, and NEOC casks, which are ex-Bordeaux red-wine European oak that has been hand-shaved, toasted and re-charred. Clonakilty describes it as the first Irish whiskey finished in a NEOC cask.
Typical notes are vanilla and toasted oak, red berries and wine tannin, malt sweetness at the core, and a warm, spicy finish.
