Clynelish – 14 Year Old (70cl, 46%)

This is a 14 year old single malt from Clynelish, bottled at 46% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It is a coastal, lightly peaty Highland malt, known for its waxy character. Clynelish is the successor to Brora, which closed in 1983, and was built opposite it. This bottling is a little less peaty than the Brora whiskies of the past. The nose is zesty, with mandarin, tangerine and some smoke. The palate is light and clear, with orange, soft acidity, dry oak, mixed fruits, vanilla and leather. The finish is fairly long, with a developing bittersweetness and spicy oak.
