This is a single cask Clynelish from the Highlands of Scotland, distilled in 1983 and aged for 35 years in a hogshead. It was bottled at 52.2% ABV in a 70cl bottle, and is a single malt of gold colour. Diageo bottled it for customers in Asia.
The nose combines beeswax, orange skin, chalk and lemon, with honeysuckle, citron, paraffin and a little camphor behind, plus a hint of coffee. On the palate, a sharp, lemony oak and coffee note sit alongside citron, wax and pancake syrup. Water eases the oak back and lets the wax and citron come forward. The finish is long and a little tart and bitter, with green pepper from the oak.
