Connemara Peated Single Malt (70cl)

A peated single malt from Cooley Distillery in Ireland, Connemara is double distilled and made with malted barley dried over peat smoke. Cooley was set up by John Teeling, who bought a potato-alcohol plant on the Cooley peninsula in 1987 and rebuilt it over two years. The whiskey is amber in colour and medium in body, with a slightly oily texture and a balance of peat and malt. On the palate there is plenty of peat, caramel, dark chocolate and spice, with a smokiness that recalls Scotch whisky.
