Copperworks – Double Peated American Single Malt Whiskey R36 (75cl)

Copperworks Double Peated is an American single malt whiskey, release R36. It begins with locally grown Washington barley, malted with peat from a bog in Washington State. The whiskey matured for 45 months in new American oak, then spent a further seven months in a cask that previously held Ardbeg whisky. The bog peat brings savoury, earthy notes, while the Ardbeg cask adds a more traditional Islay smokiness. Sweetness from the new oak balances the heavy smoke. The nose is driftwood campfire, leather and creosote. A sweet Demerara sugar entry leads to candied orange peel and seaweed, and the finish is minty, ashy, earthy and briny, yet still sweet and silky.
