This is a four-year-old single malt from Corowa distillery in New South Wales, bottled by That Boutique-y Whisky Company as Batch 1 of its Return to Oz series. It comes in a 50cl bottle at 48.5% ABV, without chill-filtration or added colour.
The whisky matured in a former Australian tawny cask, and 592 bottles were filled. The illustrated label shows the old mill building, a game of Australian football and a funnel-web spider.
The nose offers toasted grain bread, dark jam, dark chocolate with chilli and woody spice. On the palate, jam sweetness meets bitter dark chocolate, sour cherries and oak. The finish brings fruit with a slight, jam-like bitterness.
