Cotswolds Distillery – Reserve 1st Fill Bourbon and Red Wine Casks Small Batch Release (50%)

This is the Distillery Reserve from Cotswolds in England, a single malt bottled in 2021 as a small batch release of 5,000 bottles. It is bottled at 50% without chill filtration. Around 80% of the whisky matured in first fill bourbon casks and about 20% in STR red wine casks, meaning shaved, toasted and re-charred. The distillery was founded in 2014 by Daniel Szor and uses barley from nearby farms, malted at Warminster Maltings. The nose brings ripe apple, soft caramel, vanilla, chocolate and coconut. The palate is malty, with honey, marzipan and orange. The finish is long, with honey and gentle almond.
