Hearts & Crafts No.3 is an English single malt from the Cotswolds Distillery, the third edition of its annual Hearts & Crafts series. It was released in 2022 as Batch 01/2022, with 3,000 bottles filled at 55.6%.
The spirit went straight into 225-litre French oak barriques that had previously held red wine and then Caribbean rum, so the rum cask shaped the whole maturation rather than a short finish. It is unpeated, non-chill-filtered and free of added colouring. The tube design draws on William Morris patterns, in warm earth tones.
The nose offers rum-soaked raisins, vanilla and buttery biscuit, with cinnamon, apple pie and ripe banana. On the palate come pear, berries and marzipan, with brown sugar and spicy oak. The finish is long, fruity and peppery, with tropical fruit and orange peel.
