Croftengea – 15 Year Old 2006 The Whiskey Trail Silhouettes 2021 (53.2%)

This is a 15 year old Croftengea from the Loch Lomond distillery, distilled in 2006 and bottled by Elixir Distillers for The Whiskey Trail Silhouettes 2021 series. It was matured in a hogshead and filled 269 bottles at 53.2%. Deep smoke and spice run through it. The nose is gummy and vegetal, with wet gravel, light char, lactic notes and lily, and a little citrus. On the palate come burnt tyre and ash alongside chocolate and cigars, then peppercorn, nutmeg and clove. The finish is long and smoky, with olive brine, lemon and ash over a background of chocolate.
