This is a Pennsylvania rye whiskey from Dad's Hat, bottled at 45% in a 75cl bottle. It is finished in barrels that previously held maple syrup.
The barrels are used whiskey barrels, filled with maple syrup from Somerset County, Pennsylvania and left to rest for several months. The wood takes on the character of the syrup before it is used for the finish.
The nose is woody and herbaceous. On the palate a bold, spicy rye gives way to citrus, cinnamon, nuts and rock candy, with some heat at the back of the tongue. The finish is lingering and medium to long.
