It is made up of seven first-fill ex-bourbon barrels, all distilled and filled in summer 2008, and this is bottle 1 of 1780. The barley, a variety called Optic, was grown on the farm's South fields, harvested in late August 2006 and malted in Alloa in summer 2007. The nose is grated Granny Smith apple, dried vanilla pod and apricot jam, with shortbread developing. The palate is delicate, with cardamom spice and vanilla custard, and the finish is long, with US oak, shortbread and a little marzipan.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
