Daftmill – Winter Batch Release 2007 Europe Edition

Daftmill Winter Batch Release 2007 is a Lowland single malt from the Cuthbert family's farm distillery, which distils only in the farm's quiet periods. The Optic barley was grown in the estate's South fields, harvested in late August 2006 and malted in Alloa in summer 2007. Seven first-fill ex-bourbon barrels make up the bottling, all distilled and filled by Hogmanay, 31 December 2007. The outturn is 1,690 bottles. The nose offers freshly baked sponge, cardamom and peach skin, leading to a floral note of gorse flower. On the palate come fresh vanilla, fruit and toasted almond with a juicy tangerine edge, building to a spicy finish with a touch of mashed banana.
