Dalmore – 18 Year Old 2023 Edition (70cl, 43%)

Dalmore 18 Year Old 2023 Edition is a single malt from the distillery at Alness. It was aged first in American white oak casks that held bourbon, then matured for a long period in oloroso Matusalem casks that were thirty years old. It is bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle. The 2023 edition takes the distillery's chocolate-led style as far as it will go. The nose is deep, with dark chocolate, candied orange, dried fruit and coffee. The palate is rich and silky, with fig, cocoa, cinnamon and ginger. The finish is long, with bitter chocolate, liquorice and spiced wood.
