Dalmore Quintessence is a single malt from the Highlands, bottled at 45% in a 70cl bottle and signed by Richard Paterson, the Master Distiller who created it.
The whisky is matured first in American white oak ex-bourbon casks, then moved into five Californian wine casks: Zinfandel, Pinot Noir, Syrah, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. The release was limited to 2,000 bottles.
The nose offers red berries, ripe plums and candied orange with honeyed almonds and baking spices. On the palate come dark chocolate, sweet cherries and figs with cinnamon and toasted oak, followed by a long finish of fruit compote and sweet spice.
